Privacy Policy for Food Judge

Summary
Food Judge lets you photograph food and receive AI-powered feedback on ripeness and condition. We collect only what is needed to run the app, process scans, manage your account, and handle purchases.
Information we collect
Account information
If you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication details through Supabase (our authentication provider). If you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information from Google (such as your email and name) as permitted by your Google account settings.
Food photos
When you scan food, the photo you choose or take is sent from your device to our Supabase server, then to Google's Gemini AI service for analysis. The image is used to generate results shown in the app (food name, ripeness, condition score, and recommendations). We do not use your photos for advertising.
Purchase information
If you subscribe to Pro or buy scan credits, Google Play processes payment. RevenueCat helps us verify purchases and entitlements. We receive purchase status and subscription information, not your full payment card details (Google handles payment data).
Data stored on your device
The app stores scan quotas and credit balances locally on your device (for example, free daily scans, Pro monthly usage, and purchased credits) using on-device storage.
Information we do not intentionally collect
We do not ask for your precise location, contacts, or microphone access. The app requests camera and photo library access only so you can capture or select food images.
How we use information
- Provide food analysis and display results
- Create and manage your account
- Enforce free, Pro, and credit scan limits
- Process subscriptions and one-time credit purchases
- Improve reliability and security of the service
Third-party services
We use trusted providers that process data on our behalf:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Account sign-in, secure API, server functions |
| Google Gemini (Google AI) | Analyze food photos |
| Google Sign-In | Optional sign-in with Google |
| RevenueCat | In-app purchase and subscription management |
| Google Play | Payment processing (Android) |
Each provider has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them:
Data retention
- Account data is kept while your account is active. You may request deletion (see below).
- Food photos are transmitted for analysis; we do not design the app to permanently store your photos on our servers after analysis is complete. Images may be processed temporarily by our infrastructure and Google's AI service.
- On-device quota/credit data remains on your device until you clear app data or uninstall the app.
Security
We use industry-standard practices such as encrypted connections (HTTPS) and authenticated access to backend services. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Your choices and rights
- Access / correction: Contact us to access or update account information.
- Delete account: Contact us to request account deletion.
- Sign out: You can sign out at any time from the app.
- Permissions: You can deny camera or photo access in device settings; the app cannot analyze photos without them.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights (for example, under GDPR or CCPA). Contact us to exercise them.
International transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours. By using the app, you understand that data may be transferred to facilities located outside your home country.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
